Tesla vehicles continue to flood Israel at high speed and a vehicle carrier with more than 1,100 electric vehicles will arrive at the port of Ashdod in the coming days. After registration of all vehicles, Tesla’s share of the Israeli EV market is expected to be about 80%.
Another large shipment of Tesla electric vehicles is due to arrive at the port of Ashdod in the next few days, Globes reported. It consists of 1,170 vehicles that were produced at the company’s plant in the United States. The batch of cars has already been delivered to Brussels and shipping on the RCC Africa vehicle carrier to Israel. About one month ago, another large batch of 1,500 Model 3s made in China was delivered to the country.
In the new batch, most of the cars are also Model 3, although according to sources in the Israeli car market, there will be several Model Ys. They will arrive in the country to pass standardized tests in the country, as sales are expected to start in early 2022.
Globes reports that 1,606 Tesla vehicles have been delivered since the start of 2021, with deliveries slightly delayed due to the fighting in southern Israel. Deliveries of vehicles from the previous and new batch are expected to be completed in June. Thus, the total number of Tesla vehicles delivered in 2021 will be around 2,900. This will correspond to approximately 80% of the EV market share.
Tesla is developing in a big way in the Israeli EV market, which usually happens when a manufacturer enters any new market. If the deliveries of electric vehicles continue at the same rate, they will then account for about 3% of the share of new cars sold in the country in 2021, up from 1% in 2020.
