Camcorder Buying Guide
Now we’re talking about Camcorder. There are many types of camcorder, what kind of camcorder we’re going to buy? Which is the best manufacturer for the camcorder we are going to buy? To answer these questions we have to take a look the product one by one, or we can surf to the camcorder reviews sites.
The bottom line is, there are two types of camcorder, analog camcorder and digital camcorder. There are advantages and disadvantages of both types. Analog camcorders record video and audio signals as an analog track on video tape (VHS, 8mm, Hi-8, etc.), and the media is cheaper to buy than digital. But the disadvantage is every time you make a copy of a tape, it loses some image and audio quality. Also, analog camcorders tend to have fewer extra capabilities than digital camcorders. Analog camcorders record betweens 200 to 400 lines. At the other hand, digital camcorder record information digitally. It makes the result of digital camcorder easy to edit. It also can easily download and play on a computer or posted to web. The media storage usually Flash Memory, Digital8 or MiniDVs.
How about the brand? There are a few big names in the camcorder manufacturer industry. Here I pull out some of them. The first one is from JVC. The JVC camcorder latest development is JVC Everio GZ-HD3. It has 10x optical zoom and 570 Kpix. Supported memory: MMC, SD, SDHC. This product has 60GB internal hard drive which allows you to record up to 7 hrs of HD video.
The second brand is Sony Camcorder. Sony has various camcorder series, but the one I want to highlight is Sony DCR-DVD205. It allows you to store directly to DVD, and it compatible with DVD-R/-RW/+RW formats. The resolution is 1 MP with Super NightShot Plus Infrared System captures natural-looking video in low light.
Other camcorders I want to highlight is Canon XH A1 1.67MP 3CCD. This Canon Camcorder is perfect for serious shooter. It captures true 1080 High Definition resolution video at 60i, 30F or 24F frame rates (or, 50i/60i with optional upgrade). It captures a true 16:9 widescreen HD image that is made for your HD broadcast and theatrical projects.
The last one is from Panasonic. This is a palm-corder. It means so handy and easy to carry. The series is Panasonic PVGS12 Digital Palmcorder. This Panasonic camcorder is designed for compactness.
But if you want handier camcorder, you can try flip video camcorder. This is pocket-sized camcorder with one-touch recording and digital zoom. Holds up to 60 Minutes of TV-Quality video on 2 GB of built-in memory; no tapes or additional memory cards required.
